Misty Dawn McBride

LM, CPM

I am Misty Dawn McBride, LM,CPM, Licensed Certified Professional Midwife and Owner of Ohana Midwifery & Wellness.

I offer my services in the Lake Tahoe, California at Elevate Wellness Clinic. I have been a Midwife in these beautiful mountains for 14 years and I feel blessed everyday to be a part of such a wonderful community.

During my own birthing experience, the relationship that I had with my midwife was so nurturing and real that I felt completely safe and trusted that my body knew exactly what to do. I began labor feeling peaceful, unafraid, empowered and wise. I had no complications and I remembered asking myself why I had heard so many horror stories about the pain and trials of labor. That was the moment that I knew I had to be a midwife and discover all the wisdom that my midwife had shared with me. I knew more women needed to be given the natural birth option. I knew that birth was natural, safe and a rite of passage into motherhood. Entering this time in my life feeling strong, powerful, and wise was a wonderful beginning for my family. I have been attending births for over 20 years and every single one is sacred to me. I absolutely love what I do. I trust women to birth in their own way and it is my job and my hope to honor each family and what that means for them.

  • Maggie has been working with Ohana as an assistant since 2016. She is a mother to four beautiful children, a wife, a midwifery student and a fitness coach. Maggie’s love for pregnancy and birth began in 2008 with the home birth of her first child. She found that the midwifery model of care made her feel safe, supported and empowered on her journey to motherhood. She has since had three more children safely at home with a midwife.

Shortly after beginning with Ohana she became a midwifery student at the Midwife College of Utah, where she is working towards her degree. Her goal is to license and continue working with Ohana as a midwife and to eventually open a birth center in the South Lake Tahoe area.

Maggie’s love for women and birth is palpable. She brings a calming essence to each birth she attends and genuinely loves the work we do. Maggie can be found at most births giving mamas hip squeezes and strong sacral support as well as offering gentle words of encouragement and strength. Maggie additionally offers most of our families nutritional support and fitness support pre and postnatally. She is an asset to all of the women she serves and we are blessed to call her part of our Ohana team .

  • Dr. Hannah Gravrand is a chiropractor that focuses on prenatal, postpartum, pediatric, and family chiropractic. She is the owner of Nurturing Roots Chiropractic and offers her services in Reno, NV at Biggest Little Baby. She is passionate about all things birth, especially supporting and empowering women to birth the way nature intended it. She has given birth to her beautiful son in the peace of her home and plans to do the same when her second child arrives this summer!

Dr. Gravrand really feels that life has led her down a path of healing which has opened the way for her to support others in their own healing paths. At the beginning of her career, she completed a very competitive residency program in a Veterans Affairs hospital affiliated with Yale University which was followed by five years of work as a hospital-based VA chiropractor in Reno. This gave Dr. Gravrand a very solid foundation in evidence-based chiropractic and treating chronic pain. More recent ventures have led her to train in prenatal and pediatric chiropractic as well as Dynamic Body Balancing, a type of hands-on therapy that integrates craniosacral therapy, myofascial unwinding, and biofield energy work.

Becoming a mother has been a transformational experience for her and she is passionate about supporting you through your motherhood journey. Her aim at Nurturing Roots Chiropractic is to create a loving and healing space to support you where you are in your life and to empower your body to navigate and heal through the aches and pains that it may be experiencing. You are at the center of your healing path and she hopes to connect you with what you need so that you feel empowered to go where life leads you.

When she is not working, she cares for my precious family of almost four, as she is expecting a new baby this year. She and her husband are lovers of all things nature, and, although life has significantly slowed down since having children, you will still find them skiing, snowshoeing, camping, hiking, rock climbing, etc. when they get the chance..

  • Dr. Erin’s mission is to detect and correct subluxations in families to optimize their expression of

life. She knows that when your brain and body are connected you’re going to express

the most amount of life that you possibly can.

She envisions the whole South Lake Tahoe community living their best lives, clear from nervous system interference. She wants this kind of health for the person driving in the other lane on Highway 50, her children's teachers, her neighbors and friends, and the community caregivers from fireman, policeman and nurses.

Dr. Erin’s own life was transformed by chiropractic care. As a college student years ago, she attended a health talk by Dr. Stew Bittman. After moving to Tahoe from the East Coast, she suffered from chronic headaches and allergies; after being adjusted, those issues quickly improved! She caught the chiropractic fire, and almost 20 years later, that fire is burning brighterthan ever. She graduated from Life University in 2012.

When she’s not sharing chiropractic with people at the office or at the lake with her twins, Dr.

Erin’s favorite activity is running. She loves to be out early enough to watch the sunrise, running both distance and trails.

Dr. Erin and her husband love raising their family in the close-knit South Lake Tahoe community.

She was drawn to the community’s passion for vibrant health and nature, and inspired by how parents in South Lake Tahoe want to raise their children to be the healthiest they can be.
